His journey into personal electric vehicles was sparked by a simple truth: the idea of one person driving two tonnes of metal through traffic, racking up parking fines and carbon emissions, just didn’t make sense.

He explored every PEV option — e-bikes, Segways, eskates, e-scooters — but nothing matched the power, range, portability, and raw sensation of riding an electric unicycle. At first, EUCs seemed underpowered and gimmicky, but Alan saw the potential. He backed early development efforts by Inmotion and Ninebot and was blown away when the iconic V8 finally landed. It wasn’t perfect — but it crushed every rideable he’d tested before.

Living in Shanghai at the time, he spent late nights teaching himself to ride, alone, with no tutorials, no community, and no roadmap. It was awkward, but it was freedom. And when he pictured the steep hills and open landscapes back home in Australia, the vision became clear — the future of mobility belonged on one wheel.

That moment lit the fuse for EUNI. What started as a wild idea became a pioneering brand, built on risk, passion, and a commitment to redefining how people move.
